An ordained Charismatic Christian Minister, Reverend Becky Reno serves those of us traversing the Valley of the Shadow of Death, helping families navigate unmentionable loss.
Reverend Reno is the President of The World Council on Grief Death and Dying, a leading source of information and collaboration around the subject of Death which gathers the leading experts and foremost authorities of our day to “Open the Conversation Around Death”.
Additionally, the Council hosts a Scientific and Ministerial Board of Advisors which collects the wealth of information from our diverse spiritual, emotional and physical backgrounds to find the rites and rituals which have brought comfort in the past.
This Advisory Board collaborates on what our future as a blended world society may desire or require when facing end of life and the coping processes of the loved ones who remain.
As a part of her dedication to this often avoided arena, Becky is also President of the nonprofit Foundation on Grief Death and Dying.
The Foundation, amongst its many efforts, conducts evidence-based qualitative research around grief and applies cutting-edge data analytic tools to produce studies which are considered by many to groundbreaking.
Because communication is a key principle in all of her teachings, Revered Reno is President and Creative Director of the Communication and Publication company, Becky Reno International, through which she offers connection and conversation in the form of speaking, teaching and her much anticipated inspirational podcast coming later this year.
Becky continues her ministerial work with families experiencing end of life through grief and long term illness as well as those observing new beginnings like the joyful celebrations of weddings.
Using her diverse ongoing studies and experiences, Becky capitalizes on
- Her background in Christian ministry
- The fundamentals of Vedanta she learned by studying under Dr. Deepak Chopra
- The foundations of Ayurveda she gathered from Dr. Sheila Patel, Medical Director of the Chopra Center’s Mind Body Medical Group
- Energy principals she discovered as a student of The Institute for Inner Studies under Master Stephen Co
- Concepts of healing through creative expression she experienced in her own bereavement therapy with Art Therapist Eric Martin
One may wonder what sets someone toward such immersion in “all things death”. Becky is a mother who lost her own teenaged son Tommy after a six-year cancer battle.
Having dealt with the loss by pouring herself into step-parenting and a successful career in technology, she slowly began to stagnate into what she refers to as “despair, isolation and the disconnection of my head and heart” and it is in this state she remained for nearly two decades.
Until what might seem like a crushing blow became her salvation.
As a result of the sudden heart attack deaths of her Uncle and Father within weeks of each other, she chose to leave her career in technology to become the full-time caregiver to her paternal grandmother who was suffering with Alzheimer’s.
Aiding her grandmother through her end of life experience allowed Becky to heal from her previous losses as well as gain valuable grief management and communication skills which laid the foundation for the resources she now provides families in grief and long-term illness.
This year, in honor of the twenty year anniversary of the death of her only child Tommy, she sought out interviews with international experts, scientists and physicians to create a FREE Online Masterclass Series called “Reclaiming Hope” which she offers at no cost to parents who, like Becky, have experienced the death of their child.
